In 1971 Maharishi Mahesh Yogi, a sage from the ancient Vedic tradition of knowledge, founded Maharishi International University (later renamed Maharishi University of Management)
Maharishi University of Management (MUM) offers undergraduate and graduate degree programs in the arts, sciences, business, and humanities. The University is accredited through the doctoral level by the Higher Learning Commission. An alternative university: self exploration, active learning, sustainability, natural health, organic vegetarian meals.
In 1973, Maharishi University of Management, then called Maharishi International University (MIU), began offering its first classes in Santa Barbara, California. Before long, MIU had too many students for its small rented facilities, so in 1974 moved to Fairfield, Iowa to the former Parsons College campus. The next several years were a time of rapid expansion. MIU was accredited by the Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools, from the Bachelor’s to Doctorate level.
Campus-More than 370 acres surrounded by wooded areas, fields, and two lakes. More than 45 buildings on campus, including 17 main classroom and administrative buildings.
